Engineered hardwood: what is different
Engineered hardwood is not always a floating floor. The steps above change in these ways:
Acclimation is usually longer than for laminate or vinyl. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Installation options include nail-down, glue-down, and sometimes floating. Which one you can use depends on the product and the subfloor.
Moisture limits for the subfloor and the room are stricter. Test, and stay within the manufacturer's limits.
Consider a professional install, especially for glue-down or nail-down jobs.
